In a special session organized during the Cloud Security Alliance Asia Pacific Congress 2016 in Bangalore, Cloudatix Biz India Ventures showcased its unique platform for Mobile Application Security Vetting and revealed the development of sole Indian Standard for Mobile Application Security.

Sanjay Sharma, CEO Cloudatix, highlighted the establishment of a security framework for the entire mobile application developer community as well as app owners (organizations), as the core aspect of this unique research initiative delivery. The research and development work is being carried out by K-Grid Knowledge Ventures, an associate company of Cloudatix, in collaboration with Institute of Informatics & Communication, University of Delhi South Campus, under Industry-Academia collaborative research initiative.

“Under this collaboration a unique mobile application security standard for India is under development” said Dr Sanjeev Singh, the Project Investigator of this project.

With its focus on privacy and user data security, the Mobile Application Security Framework will provide an ecosystem enabling the developer community to build secure mobile applications, added Dr Singh.

Asserting on the need for Indian Standard, Sharma also emphasized upon inculcating global best practices into the standard for it to support the ITES export from India. To cater to the diverse complexity of the mobile security frameworks across the globe and integrate the best practices into the Indian Standard, Cloudatix has tied up with Tanosecure (Taiwan) an executive member of Cloud Security Alliance.

“We are very excited to work with University of Delhi and Tanosecure to build the Mobile Applications Security Testing (MAST) platform which is inspired by global Mobile Application Security Testing initiative by Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). We have incorporated the MAST framework in designing the Mobile Application Security Vetting Engine which will carry out the security assessment of mobile application across all major platforms and OEMs. This will enable the enterprises, application stores and developers to subject their applications to security benchmarks that will expose the vulnerabilities embedded in the mobile applications and IOT implementations as well”, quoted Sharma.

“It is imperative to have a look at global initiatives on mobile application security, especially the ones carried out in the Asia pacific owing to the similar mobile application penetration and usage patterns, while developing the Indian Standard. We indeed are very happy and excited to share our experience in Asia Pacific with Cloudatix to help them in their unique endeavor”, added Keng Lee, COO, Tanosecure & Co-Chair Mobile Working Group, CSA.
